Job Description:

As a Functional Safety Engineer (m/f/d), you are largely responsible for ensuring the functional safety of products and systems in accordance with the relevant standards such as ISO 26262 (for the automotive sector) or IEC 61508 (for other industrial applications). You will play a key role in identifying, analyzing and mitigating safety risks over the entire life cycle of a product.

Analysis and evaluation: Carrying out safety analyses, such as FMEA, FTA and DFA, to identify potential risks
Concept development: Creation of safety concepts (functional safety concept, technical safety concept) in accordance with applicable standards
Safety management: Responsibility for creating and maintaining the safety plan and tracking all safety requirements
System development: Close cooperation with system and software development in order to integrate safety requirements into the development process at an early stage
Testing and validation: Performing and supporting safety verification and validation, including HIL and SIL testing
Standards compliance: Ensuring that all safety aspects comply with regulatory requirements
Documentation: Creation and management of safety-related documents such as safety cases, safety certificates and audit documents
Consulting and training: Supporting project teams in matters of functional safety and conducting training courses to raise awareness of safety issues

Your Skills:

Education: Degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science or a comparable field of study
Professional experience: At least 3 years of experience in the field of functional safety, preferably in the automotive industry or a similar sector
Specialist knowledge:
- Sound knowledge of the relevant standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO 21434)
- Experience in the use of tools for safety analyses (e.g. medini analyze, ANSYS, IBM DOORS)
- Knowledge of system and software development (e.g. AUTOSAR, embedded systems)
Soft skills:
- Structured and analytical way of thinking
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Proactive way of working and problem-solving skills
Languages: Very good written and spoken German and English skills
